In January 2022, Amy and Nick Maddern devastatingly lost their 40-year-old family home in a freak storm that ripped through their rural property. This led to them having to quickly think about the next steps towards rebuilding their lives.
“We needed to rebuild as soon as possible, so that our children could feel settled again,” Amy said.
Lucky for them, their neighbours had recently purchased their new home from Akora and being advised by builders that they should opt for a transportable home, all signs pointed in the direction of which Amy and Nick were to go.
“As soon as it happened, we were very fortunate as our neighbours were in the process of getting their transportable home delivered in March, and we knew that they had done all the homework on building a home to sit in such a rural setting.” This conversation, and the advice received encouraged Amy and Nick to get in contact with the sales team at Akora Homes.
As this was such a difficult time for Amy and Nick, they were grateful to have Mary guide them through this period of uncertainty. “Mary was wonderful, and I could not speak higher of her. The first stage was hard for us emotionally, but she really helped ease our tensions and anxieties going into this whole process.”
The Maddern’s opted for a ranch-style design, as this was like the floor plan that they initially had before their home was destroyed.
“Having an identical floor plan to what we had previously has been such a blessing. Honestly, the day we moved in we have just felt like it’s our home, just a newer version of it.
“As soon as we saw it, we just knew. Apart from a few minor tweaks, such as ensuring that there is a door between the kitchen and laundry, and an outside door to the office, just off the deck area, we felt right at home as soon as we moved in.”
One of the main highlights of the Madderns’ building experience with Akora was the timeline. The family needed a new home built as soon as possible, so that they could continue their everyday life.
